Patrick Donovan is a queer Brooklyn-based photographer, poet, songwriter, doll collector and published author with a BFA in Photographic Studies from the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Patrick is known for his signature 1970s inspired vintage fashion editorials, capturing iconic NYC nightlife events (including Sasha Velour's NightGowns, Bushwig,) intimate portraiture, and Richard Avedon-inspired editorials of his self-restored vintage dolls (Barbies, Bratz).

When it comes to portraiture, Patrick's focus is to capture authenticity by releasing control, getting to the heart of each subject by helping them to feel connected to the truth of who they are while creating space for them to express it. Hailing from coastal Maine, Patrick looks for ways to marry the peace he knows inherently through nature and nostalgia, with the chaotic buzz of New York City (and the people who inhabit it).

In 2017, Patrick's work caught the eye of acclaimed photographer Nan Goldin, following the release of his first monograph, sad boys club. She hired Patrick as her assistant after "receiving a vision" from photographer David Armstrong.

Patrick's work has appeared in Cosmopolitan, The Boston Globe, Paper, V Magazine, Billboard, OUT, NY Magazine, and Into.

Exhibited nationally, his piece Benjamin was exhibited at Quappi Projects in Louisville, KY and sold to the 21c Museum Hotel in Durham, NC in 2020.

His monographs have sold exclusively at the landmark Strand Bookstore in Manhattan.
